 Using the Digital Library

The digital library is a repository of global HIV/AIDS monitoring and evaluation-related resources compiled specifically to be useful for professionals. The digital library uses several features to make finding the resources you need very easy.  Combining a powerful search, predetermined categories, and filters, the library offers you multiple ways to find the same resources.

You are also invited to submit resources to share in this library. You can do so by sending an e-mail to the library content manager. email icon

 The Digital Library Home Page

In this section, we will cover how to find the digital library. We will also cover how to understand what you are seeing on the main page of the digital library.

Useful linksThe digital library is accessible from almost all pages within this Web site. There are several ways to access the digital library. You can use the "Useful Links" link to the digital library available on all pages. The first link in the list is "Digital Library". Simply click on it to get straight to the digital library home page.

Digital Library Home PageThe main page of the digital library always shows the latest documents that have been added. You will be able to see the type of document, and the title and a description of the document. To download a document, simply click on the icon to the left of the title.

 Using Filters

Filters are a way to sort through the documents that are available in the library. You can sort through or filter out what documents you see by using the toolbar. Any filters that are available will appear in the tool bar. Simply left-click on the title that you would like to filter by. In this example, we are using the "Year" filter.

View of filters in the digital library

You will have the option to:

  1. Sort the items in ascending order by this filter.
  2. Sort the items in descending order by this filter.
  3. View items that only match a specific filter (for example - the year of 2004).

This is useful for finding resources that are relevant to your specific needs. For example, you may only want to see documents relevant to the year 2007.

You will have different filters available based on different views. Available filters may include but are not limited to:

  1. Type
  2. Year
  3. Language
  4. Program Area
  5. 12 Components
  6. Agency

 Using the Search

 Show the search box
The digital library is also completely searchable. Use the search box at the top right-hand side of every page to search within the digital library. By default, the search is set to search all content across the site (All Sites). If you would like to search just the digital library, use the drop-down menu to select "Digital Library".  Then enter your search term and click on the search icon to the right of the box. You will get results specific to the digital library.

 Using Views

View CategoriesA view is a "filtered" version of the digital library based on a category we have chosen for you. By using views you can view documents that match only the criteria you prefer.
