Universities in North Carolina founded RTI in 1958 as the first scientific organization in and centerpiece of the Research Triangle Park.
RTI International is seeking a Project Director/Chief of Party for a HIV/AIDS and civil society capacity building project. The project will deliver a wide range of HIV/AIDS related services for prevention, care and support through the organizational development of civil society organizations. The project will strengthen the ongoing national and district level HIV/AIDS programs through Public Private Partnerships (PPP), Information Communication Technology (ICT) and Global Information Systems (GIS).
Description
Responsibilities:
Serves as RTI's key liaison to USAID, government counterparts, local organizations, and program partners;
Responsible for providing overall technical vision and leadership to the program. Develops and implements annual program work plans and performance milestone plans and negotiates an agreement of those plans with USAID, counterparts, and partner organizations;
Interfaces directly with USAID/Botswana on management and decision-making. Ensures that project activities are meeting client and stakeholder expectations and that project results are pro-actively disseminated;
Will play a lead role in the advocacy efforts and policy dialogue regarding the role of civil society in HIV/AIDS service delivery.
Provide overall direction for technical and administrative operations under the contract;
Ensure the timely and quality completion of all program technical and financial deliverables and reports;
Supervises and provides direction to technical advisors and administrative staff
Qualifications:
Minimum of a Masters degree preferably in Public health, Public Policy, Management, or related field;
A minimum of fifteen years of relevant experience with at least seven years managing HIV/AIDS or health programs at international and national levels, and at least ten years of work experience in Botswana and/or Southern Africa Region; applications from Botswana nationals are highly desired.
Demonstrated success managing and leading technical and administrative teams for USG –funded programs, USAID experience strongly desired;
Experience in client relationship management, developing program work plans, developing program budgets, managing program implementation, and managing and supervising staff;
Demonstrated expertise in HIV/AIDS, capacity building, PPP, ICT and GIS;
Proven ability to negotiate and influence policy and program decisions with senior government and donor officials;
Strong organizational and interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team-oriented setting;
Strong oral and written communication skills.
